PlantHive goes @Infoshare 2018
Last week Yanni and I represented PlantHive at Infoshare 2018, which happened in beautiful Gdansk, Poland.
As usual, we had a small booth in the start-up area of the event, along with numerous other super cool startups. We also took part at the startup contest and got the chance to pitch our project to an audience of tech industry experts, start-uppers and investors. The competition was very tough since there were a lot of MedTech and Machine Learning projects, but we reached the semi-finals non-the less. Our impression of Infoshare was very positive, and we were surprised to see how close Polish youth was to our culture. We are looking forward to next year’s edition! On the other hand, transporting a prototype abroad with an airline is a nightmare of epic proportions. Even though we labeled it "Fragile" and "this side up", our transport casing had been traveling in all kinds of positions. As a result, a couple of cables of our prototype's LED panel had been detached due to the transportation shocks. Thankfully, and thanks to Federico's smart design, we managed to fix our PlantHive in no time! We wish we could say the same for our casing's locks and wheels, that we will have to replace. Our advice to all hardware start-uppers out there: Don't put your prototype in an airplane! Airlines are totally incompetent and are very likely to damage your equipment. Use professional transporters instead! That way you are sure your hardware reaches its destination intact!
